In the beginning, Dahyun became known by her performance of the “eagle dance” which become a viral sensation. Then, later on, she auditioned for JYP Entertainment and successfully became a trainee and appeared on MNet’s SIXTEEN. SIXTEEN (Hangeul: 식스틴) was a 2015 reality girl group survival show created by JYP Entertainment and Mnet. In her first challenge on SIXTEEN, she repeated her viral dance in the show. The show SIXTEEN premiered on May 5th, 2015 and was airing until July 7th for 10 episodes. There were sixteen contestants who got challenges in singing, dancing and also their personality and charisma. During the show, Dahyun was popular for her relationship with Sana. Debut as a Member of TWICE
After performing in the girl group survival show SIXTEEN, Dahyun got selected as the seventh member who has a secured spot in the project group TWICE. She officially debuted as a TWICE member on October 20th, 2015, with their mini-album, The Story Begins, with the title song “Like OHH-AHH.” This girl group consists of nine members, including Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Momo, Sana, Jihyo, Mina, Dahyun, Chaeyoung, and Tzuyu. TWICE got increasingly popular after being nominated for the title “nation’s girl group” of South Korea. TWICE are also the first girl group to achieve and break the record in sales by selling more than 100,000 copies in 2016.
